A Person is a Person No matter….

Do you remember Horton the Elephant and the Whos in Whoville? One voice kept the town on the seed from being boiled alive.

I spent yesterday in a workshop as step one to being an accredited mentor. I have been mentoring businesses for the last 20 years but the “endorsement” matters to some people. And during the day, one thing kept being mentioned.

“Mindset!”

People make everything work or not work. Nature can be destructive as we have seen this year with the earthquakes, tsunamis, tornadoes and other natural disasters. The sun can heat us up and help us feel sunny and bright. The cold can  get us huddled around a fire. The rain will feed the seeds and keep us indoors. But for things to truly happen, we have to consciously, and sometimes unconsciously, take action.

So your mindset says whether you are stuck or unstuck.

Mindset measures your success.

Mindset forgives or holds a grudge.

Mindset allows you to see the beauty or the ugliness around you.

Mindset can lead to worry or it can help you plan and take action.

Mindset, how you see yourself, is the only thing that truly matters.

How do you keep a optimistic mindset:

  1. Remember that you are on this planet for a purpose and that whether you know your purpose or not, you will be given the time you need to fulfil that purpose.
  2. You matter, regardless of your circumstances. If grubs and ants and other insects have a place in this world then you very definitely do too. You only have to acknowledge, appreciate and accept  the fact that you matter and can make a difference to someone.
  3. Your challenge is to develop the six inches between your ears. To read, to think, to question and to challenge the world around you and to listen to the answers but chose which answers you will internalize and act on.

In business, we all have the ability to succeed. It is how you value what you do first and foremost before others value what you do. And having a sense of your own worth, makes a difference to your results.

So today, remember you matter. You are important. No other person is like you and your mindset helps you or hinders you.

Your choice, your call, your power.

Business is people and People is business

An absolutely fantastic post, Roberta. And, yes, folks really want those labels.
But, as a coach, you need to set the mindset for yourself and guide your clients to the proper mindset for themselves. And, the trick is to know when you need to have your mind set and when you have to set your mind differently!

I really have to think about your point of view here Roy as I came from a slightly different mindset in writing the post. Isn’t life and the mind worderful

I totally agree with your points of minset development. I am also thankful for the words of encouragement as reminders to use that 6 inches between my ears, it’s useless space unless we have the right mindset.

They are the most precious real estate that most of us own. Just most of us forget to feed it good stuff from a very early age. Read, learn, have fun and keep growing. Thanks for commenting

I loved that movie…. the animation and concept was truly brilliant.
Mindset according to me are always evolving, there is no “set” to it. We need to be changing according to the demands….no?
I love the way you talk about the uniqueness and purpose….very true@

Enjoy this little gem too then Hajra A fun and memorable saying that is displayed at the Mayflower Coffee Shop in Chicago ~
“As you wander through life, brother,
whatever be your goal,
keep your eye upon the donut,
and not upon the hole.”

“Your choice, your call, your power.”

Love it!

Absolutely brilliant post!

Funny, I was just writing something similar about health. If you think you can’t get well, you are right!

Taking a few gems with! Will incorporate them right into my “reprogram your negative subconscious thought patterns section”!

Many mahalos!

What a strong post, Roberta! How can I make a difference if I don’t believe that I can? When I first arrived in Peru, another Canadian intern and I were thrown into an NGO and I had no idea what I was doing. I didn’t have a mission or a vision and it took away from the changes I could have initiated.

Thank you so much for this post, Roberta, and for reminding me how important it is that I value myself first.

Hi Roberta, what a great remind that we matter! I like the reminder that we have to value ourserlves first. A lot of times, we want validation from others in order to feel confident. I really enjoyed this post!

The mindset is the key to everything in life. People get confused by thinking their circumstances are what propels them forward or backward. They are wrong. It’s all in the way you THINK. Your joyful life has nothing to do with your circumstances.

And if we look around places where we believe people could not possibly be happy, we find people who understand this. Its a choice. Thanks for commenting

Our mindset is the key to our inner-self. It really does matter that we know we have a purpose and that purpose may not be discovered right away.

Roberta your insight and analogy is awesome. I so much enjoyed reading this and is such a pleasant reminder …. as you say … ‘Your choice, Your call, Your power’ – love that!
