As many of my loyal readers know, on the 8th of March 2011, I helped put on an event to celebrate the 100thAnniversary of International Women’s Day in conjunction with the WIN Network. As part of women’s information  network celebrations, they recognised women around the world with awards for their works and contributions.

WIN recognised 3 women here in Auckland. I Posted a report on Deborah Bush the other day called Sex should not hurt. This was an important piece for every woman who has ever suffered period pain and for every little girl who could suffer because her mother did.

Today, I want to introduce you to another award winner. Dame Georgina Kirby is responsible for supporting over 5000 business owners get into business. She works with the Maori Women’s Development Incorporated and over the last 25 years, it has been a huge support for Maori in New Zealand. The support has been for many different ideas to get started or to grow their business. Dame Georgina is a leader and has travelled to many countries supporting projects and indigenous rights.

My interview with Dame Georgina can be seen on YouTube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v3a7gUmIB1w. Enjoy the video. Dame Georgina talks of her history and her passion for business, art and people.

Have a great weekend and on Monday, I will post my interview with the last award winner, Judith Speight.
